Producer most associated with Hans Wegner, Carl Hansen & Søn’s combination of hand craftsmanship and rational series production continues to set this company apart today.

It was Carl Hansen’s son, Holger, who took a chance on the groundbreaking designs of the young Hans J. Wegner when he commissioned the China chair range. The four chairs designed for mass production especially for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1949 were launched in 1950. Among these first chair designs was the legendary bestseller, the Wishbone Chair.

True to the Danish producer’s founding values, the house continues to make furniture of the highest quality, whilst retaining both beauty and value with respect for sustainable design, materials and more than 100 years of traditions of craftsmanship.
