Sworders October Design Sale

Acquire pieces from influential design movements, celebrating timeless beauty and innovation at Sworders' 22nd October sale.

Highlights include pieces by Christopher Dresser, the 19th-century visionary who revolutionised industrial design with his blend of simplicity and mass production. The sale offers both known designs and a rare prototype, appealing to new and seasoned collectors alike.

Scandinavian furniture from midcentury modern icons such as Niels Otto Møller, Gunni Omann, and Arne Jacobsen will also be showing. One of our favourites is the Danish 'X' lounge chair pictured above by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen designed in 1959 for Fritz Hansen. Another showstopper is the 1970s British Howard Keith 'Cloud' suite, designed by John Home for HK Furniture.

The sale concludes with avant-garde contemporary pieces by Maria Pergay, whose innovative and sculptural stainless steel designs push traditional boundaries and add a bold, modern edge to the collection.

Expect rare Scandinavian furniture from the 1930s to the 80s, featuring exceptional pieces by renowned designers like Peter Hvidt, Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, Nanna Ditzel, Grete Jalk, Illum Wikkelsø, and Ole Wanscher.
