Sworders

From Eames and Wegner to Lucie Rie and Fornasetti, Sworders' Autumn Design auction brings together 500 exceptional works spanning 150 years of design.

Taking place on Tuesday 27 October 2026, the sale draws together rare and distinctive pieces from distinguished private collections, encompassing furniture, ceramics, textiles, silver, sculpture and decorative arts.

Among the highlights is the first part of the Doris Lockhart Saatchi Collection, with works by Charles and Ray Eames, Francesco Binfare, Fornasetti and Yinka Shonibare. Studio ceramics are particularly well represented, with works by Lucie Rie, Waistel Cooper, Ursula Scheid, Michael Casson, Katherine Pleydell-Bouverie, Tatsuzo Shimaoka and Michael Cardew.

British craftsmanship sits alongside international C20 design, from Gerald Summers, Archibald Knox and John Piper to Hans Wegner, Stuart Devlin and Saburo Inui.

With its eclectic mix of iconic designs, exceptional craftsmanship and rarely seen works, the sale offers a fascinating snapshot of the changing language of design — and the enduring appeal of pieces made to be lived with and collected.
