Sworders’ Two Day Design sale on Tuesday 4 & Wednesday 5 May is a must for design lovers with Day One focusing on Art Deco and Arts and Crafts and Day Two looking at the rest of the Twentieth Century.
We have our eye on a Frank Brangwyn sideboard from the estate of Fiona MacCarthy who was married to Sheffield-based designer David Mellor (lots 85-93) and have been busily scanning the fifty lots of studio ceramics from the collection of Trevor Coldrey, who ran the Harlequin Gallery in South London (lots 258-310).
So many beautiful pieces from Paolo Buffa, Max Ingrand, Hans Wegner, Niels Otto Møller, Ico Parisi, Dieter Rams, Pierre Paulin and Dikran Khoubesserian as well as contemporary furniture by the Gabbertas Studio. Favourite lots include the Max Ingrand for FontanaArte ‘Model 1748’ ceiling light, (lot 607) and outdoor bronze by the Italian sculptor Elio Garis (lot 582) as well as two pieces of Pablo Picasso Madoura pottery (lots 535 and 536).
Check it out online or book an appointment for a viewing in Stansted Mountfitchet over the first May Bank Holiday weekend. There is also a Design Sale
