Founding partners Petra Curtis and Lucy Ryder Richardson with their stylist team source mid-century and modern furniture, Berber rugs, sumptuous linen, smalls, lights, artwork and plants in their own inimitable style providing a relaxed but inspirational lifestyle look that speeds up the process of selling. Mixing heritage pieces from famous designers with a patina built up over time with contemporary pieces is a big leap away from the showhome look so many developments lean towards. Future occupants are taken on a journey to a relaxed place where you can breathe and actually see yourself living in each room.
Lucy and Petra have worked on ten projects with their styling team so far with The Modern House estate agency as well as sourcing furniture for an office for Danish company Adform and for a couple of Brindisa restaurants. The Modern Shows® design team absolutely loves dressing houses or offices for sale. In America they call it 'staging'. Here we call it house doctoring or styling. We have more projects this year. Styling new developments to make them look as eclectic and homely as the architecture loving owners who sell on The Modern House site has got us some fantastic feedback.
As the organisers behind London’s most exciting C20 and C21 interiors show Midcentury Modern®, we are absolutely passionate about what we do. With dealers at our finger tips Europe-wide and a great reputation built up over 15 years, we have access to more pieces than most interior designers could dream of. Petra and Lucy have a huge archive to borrow from and regularly visit design shows which is why early pieces from the likes of Eames, Cherner, Nelson and Jacobsen can be seen sitting alongside collectable pieces from ceramicists and glass artists as well as day to day contemporary pieces.
The service is not super-expensive. While most clients go for the mid-range packages, smaller flats and houses start from as little as £3000 plus VAT to dress a flat for sale for a one day shoot (instagram is becoming the new place to sell properties so this is a good investment) and £9000 plus VAT and insurance for the loan of a mix of midcentury and modern (including beds, towels, books, accessories etc) for a three month house dressing. Expect to pay £15,000 to £25,000 for larger properties. The more meterage you have to fill the bigger the cost. But you will see the worth when you more than add to the profit you were expecting to achieve.
No-one wants to dish out tens of thousands on new pieces and do months of legwork sourcing them only to be left having to store them. And no house buyer wants to go into an empty property. You want to feel like you already live there. We provide the perfect solution with a mix of C20th antique and new. And if you find you can't part with some of the pieces at the end of the loan you have the option for us to sell them to you at the current market price with half of the 3 month rental for that piece taken off. And yes we also source pieces and style homes and offices for keeps, not just for loan.
The packages we offer are flexible and should at this stage only be viewed as a guide. Price will depend on which showpieces are agreed on and for how long you need them installed.
We do not want your interior to look like a showhome. We make it look more lived in, help it tell a story, add emotion to the setting, put love into your location. Customers should expect to see a rise in the value of their development after we have stepped in which more than makes up for the three month loan.

Please Note: Initial 1 - 2 hour visits will be charged for (£200 plus VAT) where you will get some ideas even if you don't take us on. If outside London travel will need to be added to the fee. If further afield accommodation needs to be taken into consideration or you can discuss your needs in a chargeable meeting via SKYPE and send us your floor plans.
You will need to add Contents Insurance to your Home insurance for the duration of the loan.
If you need to carry the loan on after three months we will charge you a lesser monthly cost - 20% of the 3 mnth loan price per month - which we can tell you about in the initial budget - you will need to carry on the insurance.
